What am I doing wrong?

I’m new to cast iron and I thought I was following directions per the company website correctly. However, this is what my cast iron looks like. I’ve been using for about 4-ish months but I don’t know if it should look like this at this point.

I cook, get the food out with the chain mail I have, cook on stovetop to remove moisture, and use the company branded seasoning oil.

Is this part of the seasoning process?

Photo one is after cleaning with water and chain main on stove top. Photo two is after seasoning.

Thanks.
