Today at Google I/O 2026, Samsung and Google have unveiled the first Android XR smart glasses , with early designs from Gentle Monster and Warby Parker . The first audio-glasses collections are scheduled to launch this fall in select markets. The glasses are designed for common phone tasks when pulling out a phone is inconvenient. Users can get walking directions , send texts , manage calls , hear summaries of missed messages , play music , take photos and videos , translate speech , translate menus and signs , and use Gemini across phone apps. The audio glasses also work as a hands-free interface for a connected phone or smartwatch . In Google’s on-stage demo, the user asked about missed texts, added a calendar event, and prepared a DoorDash order by voice, with Gemini speaking responses through the glasses while the phone or watch showed the related information.…
