To Tell The Truth, You Have To Write Fiction Press enter or click to view image in full size Photo by Kaitlyn Baker on Unsplash I have recently been writing a long story about my past life and how it has been profoundly affected by the malicious lies of people whom I knew, as well as those whom I was very close to. So far, I have spent three days creating a rough draft, and it has not been an easy ride. Recording the events of the past as simple matters of fact is easy enough, especially if the events and their effects were so strong that they would be impossible to forget. However, the downside is that writing about those events is to relive them and risk being re-traumatised by what actually happened. Of course, the passage of time is a great help in reducing the effects of events. So, things that happened sixty, fifty, or even twenty years ago, whilst still painful to recall, are not quite as traumatic as more recent events from say the past ten years.…
