Legal/copyright status of NSO games? Nintendo probably keeps these things private, but I'm curious: How exactly do the copyrights for non-first party games for NSO work? For example, Banjo Kazooie and the other Rare games that are technically owned by Microsoft, or the Mega Man GB games that are owned by Capcom. How do Nintendo and the developers negotiate which games can be put on the online service? And for how many years? Until whenever Nintendo inevitably decides to shut in down in the future? I remember that a SNES Soccer game was removed from NSO a few years ago, so how did that fall apart? Also, for first party titles that are missing from NSO, what's stopping Nintendo from just dropping them? I understand taking their time with Gamecube & Virtual Boy games because that only started recently.
