Why did we do this? Pew Research Center does demographic studies, opinion polls and other research to better understand the views and experiences of people living in the U.S. This analysis builds on our previous work on race and ethnicity . Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders are often grouped into a broader “Asian American and Pacific Islander” category.
