Birthday bash promises ‘monumental’ family fun

The community is invited to a high octane birthday party that promises to take the cake. The first-ever Monumental Birthday Bash will be held from 5-10 p.m., on June 4 in Limbach Park. The free, family fun event will honor the town’s incorporation in 1879 and highlight the community’s 147-year history. Two music acts top the entertainment roster, and food trucks will be available. No alcohol will be served. Monument Mayor Mitch LaKind will address the approximately 1,000 partygoers expected to attend. The Monument-based Tall Boy Marketing and the Colorado Springs-based Salt Creek Productions are hosting the event in cooperation with the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Monument. The Murfreesboro, Tenn.-based Joey Fletcher Band will kick off the show. Fletcher is a southern rock/slide guitarist whose passion for the blues and dynamic on-stage performance drive a party to the next level.…
