I’m leaving academia for a completely different career field. During my brief time as a professor, I witnessed many if not all of the things on the “why teaching sucks and everyone is really depressed right now” checklist. From the larger institution, from my department & colleagues, and from my students. It was obviously beyond disenchanting.

Anyway, it’s time for folks in the department to submit paperwork for next semester and I kind of want to maybe reply with a “this job can suck my dick and balls.”

Thoughts? I’m open to notes.
