New Bass vs Upgrades? Okay I know I know, this question has been asked a million times. I've done quite a bit of research on older threads about this and thought I'd reset the counter on when this question was last asked. I have a Warwick Rockbass Corvette Basic 5-string with passive JJ pups from 2012 that I've been playing on for years. Honestly, I love the feel of it, the fret work is pretty good, it has an adjustable nut and bridge - nothing about it screams budget. Except the pickups. I feel like the current passive silver MECs are hard to dial in a great tone and pretty thin (even after adjusting height and new rounds). I'm a steadily gigging musician on upright, but I've always felt like this bass isn't quite at the level like say an American Fender would be. I'm seeing more electric pop/musical gigs come in now and want to absolutely kill these.…
