While most celebrities attending Met Gala wore ultramodern attire, rapper Doechii walked the carpet in a traditional West African-inspired look. During the Monday (May 4) event, Alligator Bites Never Heal artist wore a custom burgundy two-piece Marc Jacobs garment for her second time at the Met Gala. Doechii was also barefoot while walking the carpet, her feet and hands both covered in henna designs. She also wore anklets to highlight the temporary tattoos. To match her asymmetrical skin-baring dress, Doechii was crowned with a towering headwrap. On the carpet, the “Nissan Altima” artist stopped by reporters to share that the look was “grounding” her. “This is art to me, this is human to me, it’s vulnerable, it’s feminine, and that’s how I’m feeling tonight,” said the Tampa, Florida, native.
