First time using a telescope in my life last night with my newly-purchased (uncollimated, but seems reasonably aligned as delivered) StellaLyra 8" f/6. I spent hours just aimlessly wandering through the night sky, preferring the use of the 30mm 2" 68º Superview eyepiece for the most part. I managed to catch a glimpse of Jupiter and its moons with the 15mm 1.25" 52º Plössl before it dropped below my FOV, and I was amazed that I could make out its darker banded cloud layers. The detail of the moon was mesmerising through all the eyepieces that came with the telescope, though I feel that a full moon probably hinders more than anything; I was left blinded for a good 5 minutes after my viewing! I did find the 8x50 right-angled finderscope difficult to use at times. I got it aligned with the main scope just fine, but found it awkward lining it up with my seeing eye target when the telescope was angled higher.…
