I recently listed my personal home for rent on Zillow and was contacted by a prospective tenant. During the application process, my partner communicated with the applicant via Zillow messaging. Our primary focus was verifying income eligibility to ensure the applicant met standard financial qualifications. The applicant mentioned having a co-signer and verbally stated household income but declined to provide supporting documentation. Additionally, another household member declined to submit an application. No application fees were requested or collected. We also offered a tour of the home as a courtesy, but the applicant did not attend. Our rental listing clearly stated a no-pets policy. We are open to accommodating emotional support animals with appropriate documentation; however, no such documentation was provided.…
