Just finished setting pavers down. This is phase 1. We eventually want to extend this toward the house and maybe in another direction. We are in New England (Massachusett) so it gets cold and wet in the winter from snow and frost which may cause some expansion due to the ground freezing and thawing out. Since we may extend towards the house, is it ok to use the plastic flexible paver edge for those sides and mortar on the other sides? I also hear that mortar is good but does not allow for expansion when the ground freezes and thaws out. Some say it’s good to have a little flex. I’m thinking of a hybrid mortar in the permanent sides and then plastic on the sides we will expand in the future. The patio is 16x18. The picture with the arrows is where will expand into the house. This is our back yard and behind the arrows is our back wooden deck. I have to level this out with rock before adding the plastic edging submitted by /u/Effective-River3553 [link] [comments]
