Published 11:35 am Friday, May 15, 2026 Redmond plans to demolish its old police station and build a skating rink in its place. Redmond City Council, acting as the urban renewal board, approved a contract on May 12 to Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company for the design phase of the new ice rink. The project budget is $5.25 million and construction is expected to be completed by November 2027. The new ice rink will go in at the old Redmond Police Department headquarters, located at 777 SW Deschutes Ave. The building will be razed. The department has since moved to a new headquarters on the north end of town. Meghan Gassner, program analyst for urban, renewal said how the rink space will be used in the summer is the critical question right now. Through the design phase, the city will ask for community input as to how they want the space to be used. Discussions have included using it as a roller rink and community event space.…
