HONOLULU – Direct Relief announced today that the organization will commit $25,000 to support ongoing emergency response efforts in Hawaiʻi as the islands continue to recover from the worst flooding in decades. The emergency operating grant will go to support Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Hawaiʻi , or HMHB, an organization that has been providing patient care in communities across the islands . Because many people have been displaced from their homes, HMHB has been providing health services via two mobile units in the community to patients of all ages, connecting them to medications needed to manage chronic conditions and more. HMHB has also been distributing Direct Relief-donated hygiene items and solar chargers for displaced people on Maui, O’ahu, Molokai, and the Big Island. Staff from Healthy Mothers, Health Babies Coalition of Hawai’i deliver Direct Relief-donated water purification supplies and hygiene items for people displaced by recent flooding.…
