The NBC sketch series kicked off its latest episode with a buzzy cold open that tapped Aziz Ansari to play embattled FBI Director Kash Patel . The cameo had been floating around fan circles for a while, but seeing it materialize on screen felt like SNL closing the loop on its own comment section. “You guys should not be reporting the lies and the gossip,” Ansari’s Patel told reporters. “You should be reporting on the historic nature of my appointment. I’m a trailblazer.
