What can I do about lost tips due to corporate lying? location: Northern California, I work at a pretty successful local restaurant chain (roughly half a dozen locations) serving and bartending. back in September of last year the company switched to tiphaus to manage tip outs for the staff. this changed procedure from manual tipping our support staff, to automatic tip outs calculated from credit tips. we were all told this would also automatically tip out servers and bar staff that transferred checks. We were told that when the checks were closed, the percentage of sales split between the initial server and the new server would reflect in the tip out for that check. For example if I sold $60 and then transferred the check to another server who then sold $40, I would get 60% of the tip and the server I transferred to would get 40%. this also led to management encouraging us to transfer checks as soon as our shift ended and the next server came in to get us off the clock as soon as possible.…
