Rivian Wants To Sell Weird Car Colours Like Limited Sneaker Drops

Cars come in a range of monochromatic colors for a reason. Everyone out there building cars is trying to sell as many as possible. A hot pink car won't sell like a silver one will. Rivian, though it has a solid arsenal of interesting hues behind it, knows this. Speaking to The Drive , the company said that it still sees a place for wacky, out-there colors, even if they can't be offered consistently by the brand. Rivian’s Chief Design Officer, Jeff Hammoud said the company is investigating ways to bring fun, niche color choices to the handful of buyers who do want them. Rather than offering them on a full-time basis, Hammoud said that he plans to offer the colors as limited-run special one-offs. Rivian is already testing the waters with this, having offered a limited Miami Edition R1S last fall. The SUV was loud and very, very Floridian, massively limiting its widespread appeal. However, there was clearly enough interest in this and other more diverse Rivian colors to justify a closer look.…
