Want to use your favorite AI chatbot app in the car? iOS 26.4 and later supports voice-based conversational apps, and we’ve already seen several popular iPhone apps update for CarPlay. While not every AI chatbot has a dedicated CarPlay app just yet, widget support can get you pretty close for some of the holdouts. AI chatbot apps in CarPlay So far, we’ve seen three AI chatbots add CarPlay support to their iPhone apps: ChatGPT Perplexity Grok Each app offers a similar layout for starting new voice mode conversations or selecting from a list of recent conversations. ChatGPT goes a bit further by displaying Projects, or collections of chats based on a topic. Grok is the only app that lets you switch between voices from the CarPlay app. Apple added support for CarPlay widgets as part of iOS 26, and several AI chatbot app widgets work with CarPlay.
