The acrimonious nature of the recent G7 summit did nothing to quiet fears of an impending global trade war. After leaving the forum early, U.S. President Donald Trump declined to sign on to a consensus statement that highlighted the need for “free, fair and mutually beneficial” trade and the importance of fighting protectionism.
