The Sound Transit Board has the authority to cut your light rail extension, regardless of what was promised in the Sound Transit 3 voters pamphlet statement 10 years ago. And it can do so with little risk of accountability. That’s just one reason we need a directly elected board, which would enable voters to hold board members accountable for consistently failing to deliver what was promised. Sound Transit is governed by an 18-member board of directors, which is not directly elected or accountable to voters for the billions in taxes they collect or the decisions they make regarding the Sound Transit plan.
