Sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live has a tradition of making the first sketch of the night, the cold open, a timely political piece often written the night before or even the day of. Where do you go when there's nothing left to parody, though? When every White House press conference feels like an episode of The Boys ? SNL tried, bless their hearts, and to their credit, Aziz Ansari's surprise appearance as beleaguered FBI director Kash Patel is absolutely pitch-perfect. It cleaves so close to reality that the sketch ends up feeling like more of a documentary. Still funny, though. And if it's any consolation, Patel is probably on his way out!
