BELLINGHAM — The music was blaring during a recent Tuesday night pool tournament at Bellingham Bar and Grill, but the players barely seemed to hear it as their heartbeats thumped and their eyes focused on the next shot. Tiff Fitzgerald, 22 , circled the table, surveying the pool balls on the green felt tabletop. She stopped abruptly, pulling her cue stick back then forth and banking a shot that ricocheted off the far rail, slamming into the pocket right beneath her cue. Fitzgerald often runs Tuesday tournaments at BBG; she is one of the few women who regularly plays in this weekly competition. The Bellingham scene is inclusive generally, Fitzgerald said, but pool is still an overwhelmingly male-centric sport.…
