I am a drummer but I also want to learn bass bcs I have plenty of free time. I’ve literally never done something harder in my entire life and I really don’t get how as a beginner you could enjoy playing and practicing. I took a bass lesson(paid ofc) and the teacher only made me do the spider exercise for one hour straight, something I could easily do at home without paying anyone. It sounds fucking awful, I have very small hands and I have to glide the other fingers everytime in order to reach the next fret with my next finger. And all this effort only to make the most horrendous buzzing sounds know to man. With drums, you can mess up the timing or the movement but you will never produce such atrocious sounds… which makes it extremely enjoyable to practice. I wanted to post a video of me playing bass but I can’t. Apparently my teacher said that “my fretting hand moves well”….which feels absurd to me considering how bad I sound and how much my hand hurts. Genuinely how do you make yourself enjoy this??…
