Sotheby’s is preparing to stage one of London’s most valuable single-owner auctions ever this June, with a trove of masterpieces from billionaire collector Joe Lewis expected to rake in more than $200 million. The sale, drawn from the collection built by the currency trader and Tottenham Hotspur football club owner and his daughter, Vivienne , follows last year’s record-breaking $136 million Pauline Karpidas auction , which boosted art market confidence after a tough few years. Highlights include rarely seen works by artists including Gustav Klimt , Amedeo Modigliani, and Lucian Freud. The announcement follows a successful sale of four School of London artworks from the Lewis collection at the auction house in March.
