Malaysian financier Jho Low has been on the lam. He was charged with multiple counts by the governments of the United States and Malaysia in connection with a money-laundering scheme that raised billions of dollars from banks and wealthy investors. Wall Street Journal reporters Tom Wright and Bradley Hope unwind the tale of greed and excess in their new book, Billion Dollar Whale: The Man Who Fooled Wall Street, Hollywood and the World , which details the lavish lifestyle of the man who pulled off the scheme. In addition to Low, former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, two Goldman Sachs bankers and even Low’s father have been implicated in the scheme, which included investments in the Hollywood film industry.
