The Eastern Northern Barbarians beat Woodlands 48-27 in the most anticipated game of the third round of Southland club rugby on Thursday night. Woodlands had home ground advantage but the Barbarians were determined to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. The Barbarians led 19-17 at halftime but never fully got on top of Woodlands until late in the game. "I think we scored three or four tries inside the last 12 minutes — until then it was very even," Barbarians coach AJ Aitken said. "Our reserve bench injected a lot and our forwards got rolling." Barbarians hooker Liam Ferguson scored four tries for the second time in this year’s competition. Two of the tries came on the back of lineout drives but he had to work harder for the other two. Lock Harrison Morton was the best of the Barbarians while first five Taylor Peterson was good again. Woodlands winger Justin Shaw had an excellent game, while loose forward Sloane Lankshear continued his impressive start to the season.…
