Apologies if this type of post is not allowed. I was promoted from Junior to Mid-level this past week. I am ~2 years into the workforce, been at the same company since grad. The promotion did not come with any raise, explanation being I already received the max raise earlier this year (5%) my boss is allowed to give. This kinda caught me off guard. I make just under 99k, so I still feel like I’m making a pretty good salary for my YOE. But it seems a bit unusual not to get a raise for a promotion. For context, I love my place of work; great coworkers, boss, usually low stress. Though I live in HCOL area so the raise would’ve really helped. Curious what others thoughts on this are as I’m pretty inexperienced when it comes to navigating this kind of workplace negotiation/politics.
