Robert Irwin ‘almost died’ after encounter with 14-foot pet crocodile named after Jimmy Fallon

00:41

Robert Irwin had a near-death experience with his 14-foot pet crocodile named after Jimmy Fallon.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (4 May), the 22-year-old revealed that he was “death-rolled” by his huge pet whilst researching crocodile conservation methods in Australia.

“I named this crocodile Jimmy Fallon years ago and he's now what we call a ‘Boss croc' — he's huge,” explained Irwin to the talk show host and creature’s namesake.

He said that he jumped onto the reptile - a method devised by his late father - when the animal suddenly rolled over.

“So I'm stuck underneath him with my arm hanging out, I've got probably … 700 pounds on top of me, and I'm just like, ‘What do I do?'’ Irwin said he was freed when the crocodile thankfully rolled back onto his belly.
