Every decent idea I've had showed up in the shower or on a walk or on a run and never at my work. The non loaded state is apparently where my brain actually works, and I want to harness it somehow (yeah, I've watched "learn how to learn"). The problem is I can't manufacture this state. The second I'm sitting with no task I feel like I'm wasting time and I invent something to do. So the only time I ever drift is when I'm outside of my desk, when I do something "non productive", and I fell guilty about it. Does anyone else have this, where you need a low-mental-effort task as cover before you'll allow yourself to think? And if you've gotten past the doing-nothing-feels-like-laziness thing, how? And the most interesting question, can you invoke the "drifting" state on purpose? submitted by /u/caveeater [link] [comments]
