After growing up believing a man he didn’t know well and didn’t have much admiration for was his biological father, Beland was on the precipice of reconnecting with his actual biological father, John Beland. Chris had grown up with the last name Chabot, the name of the stepfather who adopted him at age 4, but changed his last name to Beland upon learning, through DNA testing, that Beland was his father. It turned out that Chris Beland’s biological father was also a musician.
