I always thought RJJ should have stayed a HW or retired after beating Ruiz. He had some good options, like Holyfield, James Tony and Chris Byrd. The year he won the HW championship was 2003, the same year Holyfield lost to James Toney. I think Chris Byrd and Toney would have been fairly easy wins for him. I'm pretty sure he would have beat Holyfield in that time frame. And Holyfield would have been a pretty good paycheck for Roy, probably his biggest single paycheck. A HW championship fight with Holyfield would have been a big PPV. Evander Holyfield in 2003 was simply not the younger Holyfield (who certainly would have won at a younger age), but he still had decent name recognition.. RJJ brought a lot of speed with him to HW. I don't think he brought his power with him, though he seemed to hurt Ruiz a couple of times. I attribute his downfall mostly to his moving from HW back down to LH. These three fights would have been great fights to go out on. submitted by /u/chrispark70 [link] [comments]
