The Star Musical Theatre Dunedin returns to the stage tonight with a feel-good musical comedy, packed with heart and heavenly harmonies. Based on the hit film, Sister Act the Musical tells the story of glamorous disco diva Deloris Van Cartier, who witnesses a crime and is placed in protective custody — in a convent. What begins as culture shock quickly turns into something magical as Deloris transforms a struggling choir into a powerhouse of soul, spirit and sound, forging friendships along the way. The Musical Theatre Dunedin production of Sister Act the Musical , to be staged from tonight until May 23 at Mosgiel’s Coronation Hall, is led by the team of director Sara Georgie, musical director Sam van Betuw and choreographer Olivia Larkins, along with vocal coach Tori Lenore.
