Is rice overlap considered acceptable when making hosomaki/makizushi these days?

I’ve been working my ass off trying to get my hosomaki to have no rice overlap AND get the filling centered, and the videos from professionals look to promote the same.

That being said, a lot of places I go to these days don’t seem to concern themselves so much. I would expect this from like a convenience store or supermarket, but many restaurants in my area don’t seem to concern themselves.

For those that roll sushi in restaurants, is this a thing now, do customers care/have they ever cared about overlap, or is this just a cooking/training standard that is fading out for whatever reasons?
