Woke up this morning and made the final payment on my remaining student loans. It’s officially over 11 years in the making. To say it’s been an ordeal is an understatement. From sleeping in my car my senior year just to get the degree ( so dumb of me) to not finding a job and defaulting on my loans. Thought my life was over when I was denied jobs after background checks. So embarrassing I took out 35k and ended up paying 59k because of interest. Honestly, clicking "submit" on that final payment today feels a little hollow which confuses me. Maybe you carry a weight for that many years, your body doesn't know what to do when it’s suddenly gone idk. My parents aren't here today to see this, but I'd like to think they'd be proud of how I handled the grind. I remember them being so mad I was sleeping in my car. What I would give to see them just to let them know, I’m ok. I don’t know what the future holds of course, but I can say I got through this and you will too.…
