I have some old, non-interconnected First Alert smoke detectors and I’m thinking about adding some x-sense wireless interconnected smoke detectors with phone notifications as a backup. I’ve heard some people complain about their certification, so I mainly want it as a backup.

Does anyone else do this? Is it overkill to have two detectors in the same area?
