Alamosaurus has earned a lot of press as ‘’the biggest dinosaur to walk the north american continent at 50-60 tonnes” and then others say “nah its more like 30 tonnes.” so the point of this post will be to go over the giant material and clear up the confusion. First things first,whether or not the giant material belongs to alamosaurus is up in the air. The Alamosaurus holotype was only a single shoulder blade and the giant material is feet,legbones and some vertebrae,so it doesn't overlap. Greg Paul took several alamosaurus specimens and referred them to a new genus,utetitan. However other paleontologists questioned this,stating his evidence wasn't enough to justify splitting it off.
