A race for a seat on the Clark County Family Court bench is shaping up as a contest of controversy, with two candidates carrying disciplinary baggage and one a decade-old brush with the law. All three candidates for Department P say they belong on the bench more than their opponents do. Incumbent Judge Mary Perry, an Air Force Veteran, was censured for misconduct , once asking a litigant in a divorce and custody case, “Are you psycho? That’s a yes or no?” One challenger, Jennifer Isso, a Henderson-based family attorney, was suspended from the State Bar of Nevada in April. The other, Kurt Smith, also a Henderson private practitioner, has no disciplinary record but spent a day in jail in 2015 after attempting to dodge jury duty .
