Consumer court news: The Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has upheld a Rs 1.8 lakh compensation award against an insurance firm, ruling that an insured Honda City recovered after theft in a severely damaged condition had effectively become a “total loss” and that the insurer failed to justify deductions made in its assessment of the claim. A bench of Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal (president) and Pinki (member, judicial) was hearing an appeal filed by Reliance General Insurance Company Limited against a May 16, 2019, order passed by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, West Delhi , in a complaint instituted by Shobha Bhatti.
