While going deeper into IoT security lately, one thing started standing out to me. We spend so much time securing servers, endpoints, and cloud systems — but barely question the growing number of “small” devices quietly sitting inside the same networks. Smart cameras, sensors, wearables, home automation, industrial controllers… Individually, they feel insignificant. But together, they form something much bigger — and much harder to understand. What Makes IoT Different (and Risky) Unlike traditional systems, most IoT devices are not designed with strong security in mind. From what I’ve been observing while studying: Many run stripped-down operating systems Logging is limited or sometimes non-existent Updates are inconsistent or manual Authentication is often weak or overlooked They communicate constantly in the background The result?
