Sounders, Reign will host 'floating stage' for men's World Cup

Watching matches during the FIFA Men’s World Cup along the revitalized Seattle waterfront always seemed like an obvious location and attraction for residents and visitors alike. But what about on the water? To a degree, that’s a question that was asked by the Sounders and Reign and about to be answered. The two professional clubs announced Wednesday plans to have a soccer-themed barge docked alongside Waterfront Park at Pier 62 during the upcoming World Cup. The barge will feature a functional mini-pitch, screens to watch matches during the tournament and other soccer-related activations in a theater-type setting with shipping containers lining the sides.   Getting on the barge won’t be free, for the most part. While there will be events tied to the RAVE Foundation and some youth events on the barge, it will primarily be a premium ticketed space that can accommodate around 500 people.…
