As news of the outbreak of hantavirus aboard the MV Hondius cruise ship continues to make headlines, many travellers may understandably feel anxious about their health ahead of an upcoming holiday. According to Government guidance , hantaviruses are a group of viruses carried by rodents such as mice and rats, transmitted by their droppings and urine. However, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has stressed that the overall risk to the public remains very low.
