Getty Images Garish gala garb Having been raised by a very fashion-conscious mother to admire the elegant and beautiful creations of Chanel, Dior and Armani, I cannot even describe the assault to my senses of the schmattas the so-called celebrities were attempting to wear ( “A severe Met dressing-down,” Cindy Adams, May 6). The Met Gala has become a clown show. The amount of effort and money that goes into this yearly event could be better spent, and the public could be spared the fashion faux pas of the rich and famous.
