Published 4:01 pm Friday, May 8, 2026 The coaches of the Redmond High basketball teams are swapping places. Reagan Gilbertson, who had been coaching the boys program, is taking over the girls team, and Alex Carlson, who had been coaching the girls program, will now be heading the boys team starting next season. Gilbertson led the boys program since 2017 and finished with a record of 131-121 in that span while winning an Intermountain Conference title in 2022. His teams made three-consecutive state tournament appearances in 2022, 2023 and 2024 while reaching the semifinals in 2022 and 2023. He is taking over one of the state’s top girls programs. Over the past three years, under Carlson’s leadership, the Redmond girls reached new heights. The Panthers went 68-16, won three Intermountain Conference titles, reached the state semifinals three years in a row and finished fifth at the state tournament three times. Carlson’s son, Jake, was a sophomore on the Redmond boys varsity squad this past winter.…
