Countries have started naming their 26-man squads for World Cup 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer. With 48 teams involved in the tournament, which starts on 11 June , there will be more players than ever accomplishing their goal of appearing in football’s most famous competition. Each country must provide Fifa with a final squad of between 23 and 26 players (at least three of whom must be goalkeepers) by the deadline of 2 June, and a subsequently injured player may only be replaced by someone from a previously-submitted 55-man preliminary squad, up to 24 hours before the team’s first World Cup match.
