Getting to a World Cup stadium this summer could cost as much as tickets to the game

They say life is about the journey, not the destination. If that’s the case, World Cup fans should get their wallets ready. The dizzying prices surrounding World Cup 2026, hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, already have tensions running high. For the World Cup final July 19, some tickets are selling for $25,000 - but watching their beloved team isn’t the only high cost for fans. To park near the venue for the final - MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey - soccer fans will have to pay $300, according to FIFA’s World Cup 2026 parking provider. But not every location is set on emptying fans’ bank accounts: Some have chosen to skip rate hikes. The Independent has analyzed how much it will cost in U.S. host cities to travel from the downtown area to the stadium by different modes of transport. We used local transit pages, FIFA parking information, AAA’s average price for a gallon of gas in the host city and Uber’s fare calculator to determine transportation costs.…
