First post here looking for feedback. This was taken in the Oregon Outback International Dark Sky Sanctuary and represents my first attempt at deep-sky astrophotography. Scorpius is a significant constellation for my father and me, so I was driven to try and capture it properly. Acquisition Details: Imaging Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 (at 18mm and f/3.5) Camera: Canon EOS 7D Mark II Mount: Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi Integration: 14 x 60s Lights (Total integration ~15.4 mins) Calibration: 21 Darks ISO: 800 Aperture: f/3.5 Processing: Stacking: Sequator Post-Processing: Darktable: Color Calibration: Neutralized the white balance to the star field. Tone Equalizer: Carefully brought up the midtones of the galactic core while protecting the shadows. Local Contrast: Applied subtle sharpening to the dust lanes. Denoise (Profiled): Used to clean up residual noise from the 14-frame stack. Lens Correction: Applied to correct the geometric distortion and chromatic aberration of the 18-55mm lens.…
