Adhikari was elected the leader of the BJP’s legislature party in a meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Kolkata this afternoon.

"We will continue to stand & fight for a secular country where the constitution, not brute majoritarianism, is the last word," she said.

The outcome in West Bengal, which has been, by far, the most dramatic in this round of elections, with Tamil Nadu coming in second, was made possible, above all, because Mamata Banerjee ignored the warnings.
