What a wild week in space news! We were all set to discuss Starship Test Flight 12 and NASA's recent press conference updating their lunar base plans, when on Thursday night

Mostly successful debut of company’s largest rocket yet represents a key step toward grander ambitions.

Company must now complete a mishap investigation or receive an FAA return to flight determination.

A record-breaking new version of Starship, due to launch within days, could form the basis of NASA's ambitious Artemis programme that aims to put humans back on the moon as soon as 2028

The investigation is being led by SpaceX, but it needs approval from the FAA before the Starship can launch again.

SpaceX is manifested to land astronauts on the moon for the Artemis 4 mission launching as soon as late 2028.

"A return to flight of the Starship-Super Heavy vehicle is based on the FAA determining that any system, process, or procedure related to the mishap does not affect public safety."

It's safe to say that we won't have to wait another seven months for the next Starship launch.

SpaceX has detailed major Starship V3 upgrades ahead of a launch targeted as early as May 19. The changes are meant to move Starship closer to its core goals: rapid reuse, Starlink deployment, orbital refueling, and eventually Moon and Mars missions.…
