Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Wednesday that officer Abhijit Bhande Patil was suspended after initial findings indicated a connection with Kharat.
Police have recorded statements of over 105 witnesses and collected oral, physical, documentary, circumstantial and electronic evidence, officials said.
Kharat, who was arrested in March, following multiple complaints of sexual assault, has been in custody since. He was sent to Nashik jail last week, following which the court issued his production warrant on Monday.
