The MHA initiated disciplinary proceedings under Rule 8 of the All India Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules. Jaiswal was served charge memoranda in 2009 and 2010.

The Canara Bank manager was dismissed following an inquiry, but the Calcutta High Court remitted the matter for reconsideration while directing that the punishment should be short of dismissal.

The suspension order reportedly cited allegations, including ‘defiance of institutional processes and guidelines,’ ‘misrepresenting facts,’ and ‘violating the university code of conduct.’
